Terms of Service

Speakeasy · last updated 22 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the Speakeasy iOS app. Using the app means you accept them. They are short on purpose.

What the app is

Speakeasy gives you two words and a short timer, and asks you to talk. It then shows you what you said and some plain measurements of how you said it: your pace, your pauses, and words you leaned on.

It is practice, not instruction. Speakeasy does not grade you, does not certify anything, and makes no promise about how your speaking will change. Nothing in the app is professional, medical, educational or therapeutic advice.

Price

Speakeasy is currently free, with nothing to buy inside it. If paid features are added later, the price and what it covers will be shown before you are asked to pay, and Apple will handle the transaction under its own terms.

Your account

An account is optional and the app works fully without one. If you create one, you are responsible for the username you choose. Do not choose one that impersonates someone else or that you would not want other people to see.

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, in Settings. Deleting it erases your record on the server. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is stored and what is not.

We may suspend or remove an account that is used to abuse the service, for example by attempting to attack, overload or reverse engineer the server.

Your content

What you say stays on your device unless you switch on the connection check, which sends the text of a finished talk to Google's Gemini API to judge whether you linked the two words. That feature is off until you turn it on and can be turned off again at any time; see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is sent. Your audio is never sent in either case, because it is never recorded.

Speakeasy claims no rights over what you say. If you share a result card, you are the one publishing it and you are responsible for what it contains.

Acceptable use

Do not use Speakeasy to break the law, and do not attempt to interfere with the app or its server, extract other people's data, or resell the app as your own.

Availability

Speakeasy is provided as is. The drill, the history and the widget work without a network connection. The optional account depends on a server that may be unavailable at times, and may be changed or discontinued; if that happens the rest of the app keeps working and your local history is unaffected.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Speakeasy is provided without warranties, and its developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights in your country.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The current version always lives at this address with the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new version.
